Cookie Policy

The cookies and browser storage the platform uses, why, and for how long. We use only what the platform needs to work and to remember your own choices - there is no advertising, no analytics, and no cross-site tracking.

This is a working draft pending external legal review. It reflects how the platform is designed to handle your data, but it is not yet the final, counsel-approved text.

1. What we use, and what we do not

Invictus Academy uses a small number of first-party cookies to run the platform and to remember the preferences you set. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics or tracking cookies, or any third-party cookies, and we do not build a profile of you or follow you across other sites.

2. The cookies we set

  • academy_session (essential) - keeps you signed in securely. It holds only an opaque identifier; your session data is kept on our server, not in the cookie. It expires after twelve hours or when you sign out. Without it you cannot stay signed in.
  • academy_prefs (functional) - remembers the preferences you choose, such as your difficulty filter, and whether you have chosen to appear on your organisation’s standing. That last one is a record of your consent to be shown to colleagues, so clearing this cookie takes you off the board rather than losing a display setting. It lasts up to a year and holds nothing else.
  • academy_cookie_notice (functional) - records that you have seen the cookie notice, so it is not shown again. It lasts up to a year and stores only that acknowledgement.

3. Browser storage

We also use your browser’s local storage to remember your light or dark theme. That is a preference you set, it stays in your browser, and it is never sent to us.

4. Do you need to consent?

These cookies are strictly necessary or functional: they are needed to run the platform and to remember choices you make, and none of them is used for tracking. Under the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, cookies of this kind do not require your prior consent. If we ever introduce optional cookies, such as analytics, we will ask for your consent first and give you a clear way to change it.

5. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the essential session cookie will stop you from signing in; clearing the functional cookies simply resets your preferences and the notice.

6. More information
